A Shot of Java, Glendale, AZ
A Shot of Java is the only specialty coffee store in
Glendale (and only one of two stores in Phoenix) that carries Fair Trade
organically-grown coffee. Using this as the theme, we put together
a campaign for the newspapers that emphasized this specialty.
Result: two newspapers, the Glendale Star and the Arizona Republic, both
ran articles about ASOJ.
Update: Shortly
after the articles appeared in the newspapers, ASOJ also announced that
they had "Bing Cherry Flavored Coffee". This led to Jan D'Atri, a
leading food talk show host on KFYI, the local radio station, to mention
the coffee and the coffee shop on her program. Customers came into
ASOJ asking specifically for the "Cherry coffee that they heard Jan
D'Atri mention".

Client: Wei of Chocolate, Phoenix, AZ
Lisa Reinhardt is the owner Wei of Chocolate in Phoenix.
She provides organic dark chocolate infused with spices and flower
essences. Lisa wanted more publicity of her products, but didn't
know how to go about getting it. I met with Lisa, analyzed her
products, found the unique selling points, and tied them into a specific
time of the year: National Heart Month. I sent a news release to
the local TV talk shows, and got Lisa booked within 45 minutes on
Sonoran Living Live, on Channel 15 in Phoenix.
Results: Lisa's sales tripled the day after her TV appearance.

Client: Santa Clara Valley Wine
Grower's Association
The Santa Clara Valley Wine Grower's Association had been
trying to get media coverage for several years without any success.
After consultations, we re-focused their message. As it turns out,
each of the Santa Clara Valley wineries have at least one dessert wine
in their selection of wines. So we put together a tasting event in which
we featured their dessert wines, and then alerted the media. As a
result, almost 800 people attended, and the event was covered by the
San Jose
Mercury News, and
KGO radio in San Francisco.

Vodka Magazine
Vodka is a magazine that focuses on the hip
lifestyle and culture in the Los Angeles area. Based upon their
demographics, I thought it would be fun to see if I could write an
article for them. I submitted a press release about cooking with
flavored vodkas. I was contacted by the magazine and, as a result,
wrote a two-page article about cooking with vodka, including recipes.
